On the positive side, the owner is nice, the bedroom matches the description and the building is very well located in a safe neighborhood.
On the other hand, I was bitten by bed bugs all over my body from the very first night on. An exterminator came 5 times and the owner accused me of bringing these bed bugs in and asked my parents to pay an extra $2500... without warning us... Since not everybody is sensitive to bed bugs, the previous renters may have brought them in without being bothered by them.

She didn't offer to give the security deposit back they had paid and my parents thought that the extra $450 allowed to pay for a new mattress. So I hope the next renters won't have bed bugs and will be able to enjoy the bedroom because I stayed on the sofa bed in the sitting room for about 5 weeks and the stay cost us much more than was planned. Without all these problems, it would have been great!

Camille, thank you for your review about your stay in my apartment. I always try to make my guests feel comfortable.

As far as your problem with bed bugs in the room, please let me remind you that I did my best to have it resolved as soon as I found
out about it. I immediately threw out the relatively new mattress, and set of sheets that you used .Then I called a highly recommended exterminator company. They sprayed several times, and checked the room before and after this treatment. I have never had the problem before or after you stayed here.

Fortunately, I had another place for you to sleep. In the meantime, the new mattress arrived, and I paid for that. When the bill arrived from the exterminator, I asked your parents to help me with the expense. But, they never sent anything to help. The extra dollars from the deposit, would have been deducted, of course. The difference in what I retained was one percent of the exterminator bill.

So, in a few sentences, the apartment was very nice, the bedroom was large and convenient. Special mention to my roommate host who was absolutely lovely throughout these few months, even if unfortunately I didn't come across her very often. I never noticed any cleanliness issue, whether in the neighborhood or in the building, and I never had the slightest practical problem due to the slightest technical issue.

The negative I remember however (the only one I can think of right now) is the theft of some of my clothes that occurred one day in the basement on the building's laundry floor: indeed, the washing machines and dryers do not lock while in operation, unfortunately.

It was a pleasure to have Romain staying here while he was studying English. I didn't know about the problem with his clothes. I've spoken to the super about it.
