If you want to see one of the most beautiful views of Avignon and its famous uncompleted bridge, Villeneuve lez Avignon is a wonderful place. Between Villeneuve and Avignon, on the Rhône river is the island of Barthelasse that formerly was a refuge for outlaws and deserters in the past centuries. Of course, Avignon is also famous for its summer theater festival.
