Have a real New York experience in this one bedroom furnished apartment, located in a low-rise building near the intersection of West 11th Street and West 4th Street in the West Village (in Greenwich Village).

The main room of the accommodation combines comfort and convenience, with a nice large couch and a television as well as a dining table (with space for four). The open kitchen makes serving dinner a breeze with an oven, gas range, refrigerator and even a dishwasher! The bedroom, separated from the main room by French doors, boasts a queen-sized (160cm wide) bed and two large windows with great views. A small desk and decorative fireplace add some personality to the room – you’ll feel right at home!

It’s hard to beat a location like this, insulated from the tourist traps of Midtown Manhattan but still at the heart of New York City. The Village is historically an area full of interesting personalities from artists to political dissenters. Get to know some of the area’s institutions like:

  • The Village Vanguard (.1mi/230m), Smalls Jazz Club (.2mi/280m), and Blue Note (.5mi/750m), legendary jazz clubs around for decades.
  • The White Horse Tavern (.2mi/260m), a famous haunt for some of New York’s greatest writers.
  • The Stonewall Inn (.3mi/350m), location of the riots that started the Gay Rights Movement in the US and still an operational bar.

Apartment Rental: 3 months

You're paying for the location. The location is perfect, possibly the best location in NY. Amazing restaurants nearby. Beautiful streets. Metros close by. I can't say enough about how great the location and neighborhood are.

The apartment itself is a bit of a letdown. It's smaller and darker than in the pictures. A lot of the amenities don't work as advertised or don't work at all. The mailbox is broken. The building has bugs and mice.

Worst of all, the owners of the apartment are completely unreliable and don't care about any problems you may have. A few weeks into our stay, the main light in the kitchen went out. Not the lightbulb, but the light fixture itself. We needed to call an electrician. We also had our gas stop working, a broken mailbox and a few other odds and ends that fell apart during our stay. Despite emailing and calling for weeks, the owners did nothing.

So five stars for the location and neighborhood. Three stars for the apartment itself. One star for the owner/management.

Thank you for your review. I agree the apartment is amazingly located in the prime West Village and the apartment keeps the charm with the fireplace and exposed brick. The photos were taken during the day when the sun is in the living room and bedroom and it's the brightest time of the day. The SF is aproimately 550SF.

To you issues: the mailbox is working properly now, so are the lights and gas. I'm very sorry your stay was interrupted with these issues. There was an accident few doors down the block on a construction site and the city shut down the gas for a week or so. We sent a worker to the apartment but he missed you 2x so it take a little longer to have the living room light fixed. We never heard anything about a mouse problem from you! We would have sent someone right away. As a precaution there was an exterminator in the apartment 2x last past 6 months. Due to construction people have seen mice in the basement of the building and there are signs in the builidng by the mailbox when the exterminator comes - usually every third Saturday of the month.

We usually resolve any problems or special requests within 24 - 48 hours, I believe there was a miscommunication on the contact information provided, since we haven't received any complaints till the very end. There is a welcoming sheet on the door of the apartment with all phone numbers including the company management, broker and super.We'll make sure to credit you on your next stay!
