On June 13th , The National Puerto Rican Day Parade will take place in New York City. This annual event started fifty-three years ago and has been expanding rapidly ever since. In 1995 the parade expanded from a Manhattan event, to become a national day of celebration for all Puerto Rican people. The parade now encompasses delegates from all across the United States who will walk on June 13th alongside delegations from Puerto Rico and 80,000 others as well.

Each year up to two million people line Fifth Avenue to watch the National Puerto Rican Day Parade. The extremely popular event is also televised and is very highly rated throughout the New York metropolitan area.
