Just a short distance but already eons away from the glitzy city of Cannes, Théoule-sur-mer shines like the small jewel it is on the Bay of Cannes. One of the best-kept secrets on the Riviera, this charming little town nevertheless has its own share of regulars who just cannot get enough of its natural beauty and wide range of events all year long.
The end of the year holidays are no exception, and for the occasion Théoule has been putting together le “Chemin des Crèches” for the past eight years, a path winding through the village on which you can discover more than 100 nativity scenes from all the continents, all of different sizes and created with all sorts of material, from sculpted wood to silver and gold threads.
Théoule being located in the South of France, there is of course no escaping an exhibit and sales of the traditional santons. This year, more than 10,000 small terra cotta figurines will welcome you at the Espace Culturel, most of them presented by renowned artists of the genre.
Once you have enjoyed all the Théoule has to offer, why not get a taste of a bigger city with a visit to Cannes? A Christmas market is usually set up on La Pantiero, right next to the famed Croisette, with an eclectic array of chalets selling local fares. The little ones haven’t been forgotten and there are plenty of activities for them such as an inflatable castle, pony rides, farm animals and a make-up station where they can become their favorite characters.
