The French Riviera has been an undisputed favorite travel destination for centuries now, and one of its main draws has been the tiny but not to be neglected enclave of the Principality of Monaco, which adds its own touch of glamour to one of the glitziest regions in the world. It may be the second smallest country in the world, and one of the most densely populated ones too, but there is still space for visitors if they decide to pop in and enjoy the microstate’s many attractions.

In a location famous for being the center of the gambling industry, the Belle époque casino is a must whether or not you wish to tempt fate and mingle among the crème de la crème of the international jet-set.  If gambling is not your cup of tea, you can still explore the splendid gardens surrounding the magnificent building.

Monaco has been ruled by the House of Grimaldi since 1297, which makes them the oldest ruling family in the world. To get a better grasp on that feat, do not forget to pay a visit to the Prince’s Palace, which is just about as old as the monarchy. Flanked by centuries-old cannons, the original Genoese fortress is even more impressive inside than out.

For the Formula One fans, watching the Monaco Grand Prix, one of most popular automobile races in the world, right there would no doubt be a dream come true. So keep in mind that it is not too late to make plans for this year as the annual event will take place May 26-29.

The more culturally inclined will have several museums to choose from, not to mention Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo and numerous prestigious artistic companies, such as the Ballets Russes, who never fail to stop in town when on tour.

To enjoy the numerous pleasures that minuscule Monaco has to offer, there’s no better than having your own New York Habitat vacation rental in the South of France and live (almost) like a local.

If you want to be as close to the action as possible, our furnished 2-bedroom – Beausoleil – PR 632 in the nearby small town of Beausoleil is only a 10-minute walk from Monte Carlo and half-way between Nice and Italy, which are a 20-minute drive away each.

You can also settle in the small town of Cap d’Ail where our comfortable two-bedroom rental (PR-92) can easily accommodate 4 people. Overlooking the Mediterranean sea, it is less than 3km away (2 miles) from Monaco.

Between Beaulieu and Monaco you’ll find our cute furnished studio – Eze – PR 806 on the coastal road right below Eze Village. Located in the hills above the sea and within short distance to the beach, you just won’t be able to get enough of the 180° view over the Mediterranean from the terrace.

Whether you decide to partake in the excitement of gambling, car racing or first-class culture and entertainment, Monaco has it. Have you been there and would like to share your impressions in our comments section below?
