The first match of the US Open isn’t until August 27th, but if you’re bringing the whole family to the city it’s well worth it to arrive the week before. On Saturday Augustus 25th, the US Open will organize a Kids’ Day at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. This day-long tennis and music festival will feature performances by among others the Wanted and Carly Rae Jepsen. See Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day for more information. As for the tournament itself, the women’s final and men’s final are held on the last weekend of the US Open. For the whole schedule and ticket information, see the official US Open website. If you have some time to kill before or after a match, you can take a stroll through the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park where the tournament is held. This is the second-largest park in NYC (after the Bronx’s Pelham Bay Park) and is also home to the New York Mets stadium Citi Field, the New York State Pavilion and the Unisphere: an enormous globe that was built for the 1964 World’s Fair.
